Japanese drainage

Japanese lymphatic drainage

Lymph flows slowly, with no pump to push it along. Japanese drainage guides it towards the lymph nodes with light pressure, pumping and smoothing movements, always in the same direction. The touch is precise, never heavy: that gentleness is what makes it work.

The benefits

  • Light legs

    Drainage helps release water held in the tissues: legs feel less heavy and ankles less swollen, especially in the heat.

  • Less puffy face

    On the face and neck, it softens bags and morning puffiness, refines contours and revives the complexion.

  • Deep relaxation

    The slow, steady rhythm calms the nervous system. Many people fall asleep during the session and sleep better the following night.

  • Time for yourself

    An hour or more where you do nothing but receive: a real moment of calm in your week.

What happens during a session

Allow a few minutes more than the length of the option, for the welcome and for coming back gently.

  1. Welcome and talk

    Satomi asks how you feel and what you expect from the session, and goes through the contraindications with you.

  2. Settling in

    You lie comfortably on the table under a sheet. Only the area being worked on is uncovered.

  3. The drainage

    Slow, regular movements from the extremities towards the lymph nodes. The pressure stays light, and you can say at any time what feels right.

  4. Coming back

    Take your time getting up, with a glass of water. Drink plenty in the hours that follow.

Contraindications

Drainage is not suitable for everyone. Do not book, or ask your doctor first, if any of the following applies to you:

  • fever, infection or acute inflammation;
  • phlebitis or venous thrombosis, current or recent;
  • heart or kidney failure;
  • cancer under treatment, without your doctor’s approval;
  • pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, without your doctor’s approval;
  • a wound, burn or skin condition on the area to be drained;
  • recent surgery, without your doctor’s approval.

Lymphatic drainage is a wellness practice: it is not a medical procedure and does not replace any treatment. If in doubt, talk to Satomi before booking.
